Battered Prawns rumoured to be buying Big Prawn
The Battered Prawns have been rumoured to be putting forward a consortium to buy the Big Prawn and have it mounted on the clubhouse roof in anticipation of the 2010 season. Having considered all the options available for the Prawn this appears to be one of the less moronic ideas. The proposal includes having the Prawn battered and cooked before being erected on the roof.
John Leon, when asked about the Bid, muttered something about South Africa which was totally ignored by the writer.

No such a bad idea, for in 1995 IT WAS our clubhouse. Or so people thought. We had a picture of the Battered Prawns in front of the Big Prawn and with some digital editing on the facade of the building, the signwriting miraculously morphed into “BALLINA BATTERED PRAWNS GOLDEN OLDIES RUGBY CLUBHOUSE”. This picture graced our rugby songbook for the Christchurch World Festival. The only team that believed this was our clubhouse were the “Japs” from “Fukuoka” Rugby Club. Mind you we did have them on the drink after Slipper Lomax introduced them to “boat races” and superman outfits.
