Or so people thought. We had a picture of the Battered Prawns in front of the Big Prawn and with some digital editing on the facade of the building, the signwriting miraculously morphed into "BALLINA BATTERED PRAWNS GOLDEN OLDIES RUGBY CLUBHOUSE". This picture graced our rugby songbook for the Christchurch World Festival. The only team that believed this was our clubhouse were the "Japs" from "Fukuoka" Rugby Club. Mind you we did have them on the drink after Slipper Lomax introduced them to "boat races" and superman outfits. No such a bad idea, for in 1995 IT WAS our clubhouse. Or so people thought.
