The coaches for 2009 have all been appointed and they have been working on the start to the season. Andrew Grant-Frost will coach First grade, John Dokter will coach second grade, Mick Koellner will coach third grade and we have also appointed assistant coaches in all grades. ( Craig Davy -1st’s, Mick McGregor -2nd’s, Mark Charter -3rd’s.)  We have sufficient numbers of young blokes to field an Under 19’s team this year. They will be coached by Paul Davies who will be assisted by Joel and Mark McMahon. All grades have Managers appointed, and all our playing gear for this season is on hand. This includes the new club shirts.

Training will start on TUESDAY FEBRUARY 10TH and the first 3 weeks training will be at the beach, for most sessions. Until then we will be playing casual touch at the club on a Thursday evening, starting at THURSDAY, JANUARY 21ST at 6:00 p.m. If you need further information please contact “Frosty” on 0412 000 690, or Colin Groves (Coaching Co-ordinator) on 0415 969 281.

JUNIOR RUGBY NEWS. Chris Lomax is President of Juniors this year and they will shortly announce the junior sign on days. These will take place at Ballina Rugby Club, Quays Reserve, West Ballina.

In March for 3 days (11th, 12th & 13th) we will be hosting Port Moody High School from British Columbia in Canada. They are bringing 40 players aged 15 to 17 years old and will field two teams. One boys team and one girls team. As we do not have a girls team from within the club we will field a team drawn from the local area. We will liase with our local schools to ensure we field a team. The 40 students will be billeted and we anticipate playing the 2 games on Thursday night -12th March.

We are planning to send a number of our junior teams on away trips this year. These will be trips of short duration and are always enjoyed by the players. We encourage parents to be involved not only with the planning of these, but where possible to travel with the teams.
